SORKINICITY
I read More As The Story Develops a few weeks back. The first thing I'll say about it is, Ye Gawds, I hope they change that title.
Basically, it's exactly what you expect of a Sorkin script. If The Social Network represented a little bit of - I don't know - him pushing out of his box a little, this pilot is him getting back in it.
I have no problem with that. The musicality of the dialogue is there. There's a couple of great characters here and the news channel setting gives him the platform to go off on whatever he needs to go off on that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip absolutely did not.
While I think that the Studio 60 pilot itself was much better than this one, I think - taken as a series - this will get us back to the Sorkin of old.
Now, if not for that damned Parenthood, Lauren Graham would be available for the role in this this is mind-numbingly perfect for her.
One day... (and her little guest spot of Studio 60 doesn't count).
