WHAT IF?

At the risk of getting overly repititious on the subject, there's been another Battlestar Galactica writer's meeting posted (which if you're smart enough to have subbed to the podcast, you already know).

This one's great because it features the staff breaking a good chunk of the second half of the second season in a direction they ultimately did not go. Here's your alternate BG season 2.5.

And by way of segue, Lorelei said "frakking" the other night. Now that'd be a crossover, wouldn't it? Maybe that would make Rory the Cylon messiah.

For those who may have missed it, Amy Sherman-Palladino has opted not to return to Gilmore Girls next year (interview HERE). This has been a show that is clearly of one strong voice, much like Sorkin's West Wing.

West Wing
recovered (and it did recover), but it did so by becoming a different show. What will happen to the Gilmores? Don't know. I fear it, but I am hopeful.

I'm sure many will call it total shite, hell...the Gilmore faithful even rag on AS-P sometimes. Fourth season and this season for example, though I had and have no problem with them. I think it's a case of fans getting a little too possesive over characters. (See Maybe You Jumped The Shark.)

UPDATE: Here's a lil' somethin' on the replacement showrunner, Rosenthal. CLICKY.

Hey, what if Jack Bauer tracked some terrorist plot to a high school in the San Diego suburbs and teamed up with a plucky blonde student there?

"IT WAS LIKE TRYING TO THINK ABOUT THE SQUARE ROOT OF MINUS ZERO"

There's this guy, The Youngest Crotchety Old Man I Know, and he stumbled over this other (and very dead) guy, Harry Stephen Keeler and pointed him out to me. After reading one paragraph of this guy's work, I was instantly run over...err...won over. He's like the Grant-Morrison-with-a-nail-gun-injury-to-his-cerebellum of early pulp crime novels or something. I immediately secured the McSweeney's edition of The Riddle of the Travelling Skull, from which this is a snippet, thickly encrusted with a dried-up ichor of weird.

From the aforementioned tome:
For it must be remembered that at the time I knew quite nothing, naturally, concerning Milo Payne, the mysterious Cockney-talking Englishman with the checkered long-beaked Sherlockholmsian cap; nor of the latter's "Barr-Bag" which was as like my own bag as one Milwaukee wienerwurst is like another; nor of Legga, the Human Spider, with her four legs and her six arms; nor of Ichabod Chang, ex-convict, and son of Dong Chang; nor of the elusive poetess, Abigail Sprigge; nor of the Great Simon, with his 2163 pearl buttons; nor of--in short, I then knew quite nothing about anything or anybody involved in the affair of which I had now become a part, unless perchance it were my Nemesis, Sophie Kratzenschneiderwümpel--or Suing Sophie!

Thank Viking Jesus that someone in the early twentieth century had enough dain bramage to publish this guy who, not surprisingly, was experimented upon in insane asylums.

TWO THINGS, THREE OTHER THINGS, AND A LAST THING

REPOSTED WITH SOME LINKS MISSING BECAUSE EXPLORER SUCKS WORSE THAN A STEROID-RIDDEN ULTIMATE FIGHTER WHO TOOK A JAW-SHOT TOO MANY AND IS NOW DOWN ON HIS LUCK AND WORKING THE STREETS OF SINGAPORE FOR ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY A USED GUN THAT, IF IT DOESN'T KILL HIM, WILL AT LEAST RENDER HIM SO VEGETATIVE THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY AWARENESS OF HOW PROFOUNDLY BAD HIS LIFE HAS BECOME.

First things first. Not necessarily in that order.

First off, the second part of Ron Moore's recording of Battlestar Galactica writers meetings is up at SciFi. And by the way, if you want to check out RDM's BG MS script in PDF, part 1 is HERE and 2 is and HERE.

And last night's Veronica Mars? It didn't just handily kick ass like it was wearing some sort of steel-toed footwear designed expressly for that purpose, but each scene was a perfect little work of art. So good for being the first completely arc episode of the season. If you want to write for TV and you're not watching this show, I think there's a decent argument for you packing it in right the fuck now.

And as I seem to get a great many hits for Veronica Mars scripts...where you want to be is Rob Thomas' website, Slave Rats (see sidebar - scribosphere). He's no Ron Moore, but he gives up some good stuff. Pilot script, pilot notes, a commentary on the pilot.

What if Tom Baker (and if you don't know who Tom Baker is, move along...you're not going to care) were more like William Shatner. Thanks to British Telecom's text-to-voice technology...we can now now. Click HERE.

Google maps continues to be a great time-waster going on a year later. Recognize this place? You'll figure it out, because I'm giving you fuck all for clues.

if you're looking at this site in Internet Explorer, for frak's sake, stop it. There's no good reason to be using that shite. It just doesn't work right. Besides, what does it say about IE that a bunch of MicroSoft evangelists set up a Get IE website and the web thinks it's a parody site.
